Fall 2025 Lake Draw Down

The Moodus Reservoir Preservation Group (MRPG) is working closely with the Town of East Haddam and the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) on the planned Fall 2025 lake draw down.

As of September 2025:

  • The draw down application remains active and is pending NDDB (Natural Diversity Database) review.
  • A formal determination letter from DEEP is still awaited.
  • We are actively engaging with the community to provide updates and gather feedback.
  • Action for homeowners: If you plan to complete shoreline or property work requiring an inland wetlands permit, now is the time to apply. Permits are valid for five years and should be secured in the coming two months.

Additional details, guidance, and updates are available in the documents below.

Grass Carp Project Update

Unfortunately, at this time DEEP has determined that triploid Grass Carp cannot be permitted for Upper Moodus Reservoir. Please see the full letter below for details.
